Omlight Publications announces the republication of The Distant Lighthouse, a spiritual allegory written by author, speaker, and spiritual director Linda D. Gallagher. Originally written in 2018, the book has been independently republished by Omlight Publications, a publishing imprint founded and operated directly by Gallagher herself, and is now available to readers worldwide.

The Distant Lighthouse tells the story of a lighthouse that gradually loses sight of its purpose and identity, drifting into loneliness and despair, until it remembers what it had forgotten. The narrative is framed as a universal journey that resonates with those navigating personal loss, spiritual searching, recovery from addiction, or the overall challenges in life that we all face. Drawing on themes of inner light, purpose, and divine remembrance, the story is designed to be accessible to readers of all spiritual backgrounds.
Gallagher brings to this work more than four decades of personal experience in spiritual practice, music ministry, and addictions counseling. She is the founder of A Center of Freedom, a nondenominational spiritual community in Martinez, California, established in 1990. Her own journey began with hitting bottom at age thirty and finding recovery through Alcoholics Anonymous, and that experience forms the personal backdrop to the story she tells through the lighthouse.
“This story is about how many of our lives have lost a true sense of purpose or meaning, and how deep suffering results from forgetting,” said Gallagher. “This story of the lighthouse shows us how to find what we thought we had lost and begin anew with grace, gratitude, love, and purpose.”
The book features original artwork by Joe Bellows and was developed with collaborator Cliff Crain, who wrote the foreword. Early readers have noted its emotional clarity and gentle approach to themes of spiritual awakening and self-discovery. The republished edition retains the original watercolor-infused visual design and is available in softcover, hardcover, eBook, and audio formats.
The Distant Lighthouse is particularly suited for readers in recovery communities, spiritual centers, and those seeking reflective literature on the nature of purpose and inner wholeness. It is also appropriate for group study in nondenominational and interfaith settings.
