Civil Claims Filed Against Coast Capital Savings Federal Credit Union Alleging Workplace Overwork and Medical Injury

Civil claims have been filed in Alberta and British Columbia against Coast Capital Savings Federal Credit Union by Shammi “Sean” Manak, alleging sustained workplace overwork, unpaid overtime, and circumstances that he claims contributed to a serious medical event.

According to a Statement of Claim filed in Alberta (Court File No. 2501-19705) and a related civil claim filed in British Columbia (Court File No. 259-127), Mr. Manak alleges that he was required to work prolonged hours over a multi-year period, frequently ranging between approximately 70 and 100 hours per week. The claims assert that a significant portion of this work was performed without overtime compensation.

The pleadings further allege that in July 2023, Mr. Manak experienced a serious medical emergency requiring hospitalization, including an induced coma, life support intervention, and intensive care treatment. Mr. Manak alleges that work-related demands continued during his recovery period. He asserts that these circumstances culminated in his resignation on December 4, 2023, which he characterizes as constructive dismissal.

Coast Capital Savings Federal Credit Union is a member-owned financial institution operating in Canada. The claims seek damages and other relief as pleaded.

All allegations described above are contained in filed court pleadings. The claims have not been adjudicated, and the allegations remain unproven in court.
